Tiree contributed to the war effort by raising funds for RAF Spitfire repairs, notably through a bring and buy sale at Ruaig School that collected £14. The islanders’ support was crucial in 1941, following the Battle of Britain, as the RAF needed to replenish its fleet against the Luftwaffe.
