Our cottage is proving popular, especially with repeat guests so it’s always worth considering dates perhaps still some time off. We’ll now take you on a guided tour of the cottage interior.

Living Room

An open plan square room, with feature natural stone gable white walls. This cosy room mixes a traditional feeling of old natural walling and renovated timber, with the new style of modern comfort. Our fittings and furniture are all brand new,  selected to provide a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Some furniture however like the bookcase is as old as 80 years, but renovated and looks great!

The wooden bookcase is absolutely crammed full of books, music albums and 200 films! A small wood burning stove fits neatly into the chimney opening, providing a beautiful warm glow and shadows on the walls and ceilings. Underfloor heating throughout the room adds to warmth if needed with digital instant controls at your fingertips.  Some traditional wooden furniture compliments the room and don’t forget the added touches of luxury like the chrome fittings and sockets, full double glazing and scatter cushions on the sofa bed. The sofa collapses into a double bed and chairs are new and leather.

Finally, a flat screen Smart TV, DVD and Netflix is provided, with installed Satellite TV featuring over 160 channels. Did we mention the PS4 games console, Alexa Music or the speakers which can accommodate your ipod?  For your devices, the room also has excellent strength wifi broadband already enabled. With the natural slate floor and traditional rugs, we’re very proud of the look achieved in this cosy room.

Kitchen

Kitchen at Dusk

The kitchen, also has a similar traditional style to the rest of the downstairs. The white stone walls have all been fully renovated and really are a huge feature of this cottage. The kitchen units themselves are oak faced and new. Wooden worktops add to natural tones of this room. There’s plenty of storage, an excellent quality stainless steel electric hob, extractor and oven and of course all the usual expectations for your holiday with the provision of a fridge/small freezer, dishwasher, eco Microwave, Dolce Gusto Coffee Machine, washing machine and microwave. All appliances are in working order and new. Sockets have USB chargers for your devices and in evenings there’s warm LED lighting. The kitchen is fully equipped and we supply basic condiments like washing up powder, dishwasher tablets and binbags.

A larger wood burning stove (fuelled with coal or wood) sits recessed into the chimney opening below a beautiful large wooden mirror and provides excellent warmth in Winter months. In summer months, this stove may not be needed, as of course there’s also underfloor heating in the kitchen. Added luxury? Well, the natural slate flooring continues into this room, there’s concealed lighting, a ceramic sink, a wooden table and 4 chairs and even the drawers have “soft close” installed!

Bathroom

We realise that you’ll want to unwind on holiday. What better way than in a nice relaxing corner bath! We’ve spared no expense in this room, and although fairly small, the bathroom offers luxury and quality. The natural riven stone floors are heated from underneath by the underfloor heating, supplemented by a  chrome heated towel rail. The walls and shower are tiled with Italian Real Marble tiles. The bathroom suite is white with chrome fittings. There’s a corner bath as well as the power shower with constant hot water. There’s a traditional ceramic bowl type sink, with art deco chrome taps. If that’s not enough, the windows are double glazed, there are shaver sockets and storage cabinets. We love this bathroom!

Hall / Porch

The final area downstairs is the open plan hall and porch area. The hall leading into both the kitchen and living room, features a majestic new wooden traditional spiral staircase leading up to a renovated hall upstairs. Wood varnished skirtings compliment the look and contrast against the mixture of white stone and plaster walls. The porch area offers much more than housing the heating equipment. There’s storage, an area to hang coats and jackets , a small cupboard and a hardwood door (triple glazed) offers a welcome entrance into the house.

Master Bedroom

Upstairs are two bedrooms. The Master Bedroom has 2 new Velux Skylight windows on each side of a sloping attic room, offering amazing views of the fields and the nearby loch. Both windows have blackout blinds. We’ve spent a long time renovating the bedrooms , exposing the original rafters, renovating them and making them a feature. Walling in between the rafters also adds to the space available. Although the ceilings are quite low, the rooms are cosy, intimate and certainly very traditional.

Comfy & Cosy

A new Double bed has storage below and there’s a small closet for hanging space. Lighting controls are placed at each side of the bed, and again the bedrooms are wifi enabled. (Laptop in your bed!). Duvets, mattress protectors and pillows are provided, but you should bring your own bed linen. The wall radiator adds warmth in the late evening or cooler months. A small art deco glass block wall panel offers a unique feature and is obscured, fully private. A chest of drawers and cabinets add plenty of storage to the room. There’s a TV, DVD player and hairdryer too. Brand new Mattress bought in Summer 2022.

Twin Bedroom

In the other bedroom, the wood beam style is similar, but with two single beds. (If you’re looking specifically at the number of beds, there’s 2 in this room, a double in the master and 1 double in the downstairs sofabed). This twin bedroom has two chest of drawers for storage and a TV and DVD player linked to a Playstation 4 games console (for the kids remember!). One skylight allows plenty of light in the morning and afternoon, although this smaller bedroom can be darker in early evening. Warm, LED lights are controlled by chrome switches supplemented by a small lamp. Brand new Mattresses were replaced in Summer 2022.

Both bedrooms are very warm in the summer due to the thermo properties of the roof. Indeed, you may want to open the window in the evening on occassion. For Winter, we’ve installed two central heating radiators controlled by the hot water system. There’s also a hairdryer and storage. Overall, the upstairs is a very cosy retreat at the end of your day.

Outside

Relax outdoors
Added touches

The cottage is enclosed by a fully walled and fenced garden, making it ideal for pets and children to play. The bench at the front of the house and large picnic table and chairs at the side offer an area to sit with stunning views all around.  We’ve been busy planting to ensure seasonal flowers and colour. The garden is safe and the outside of the house is lit by porch light and solar lights. Off road Parking is available for 2 cars and the cottage itself is situated near the end of a quiet , isolated cul-de-sac. The loch is immediately adjacent and there’s excellent opportunity to go walking, birdwatching, windsurfing or cycling.
