In March 2020, following the lockdown announcement by Boris Johnson, the author found themselves in Tiree, separated from family on the mainland. With ferry cancellations causing concern, they finally managed to return to Oban after two days, experiencing a solitary journey home amid the initial uncertainty of the pandemic.
