Beautiful Isle of Tiree, 1903

A lovely poem from 1903, some 123 years ago by unknown, “T.SM”.

Beautiful Gem of the Sea!
Windswept and bare do thou art,
Fain would I never part
From thy loveliness, Isle of Tiree.

Home of the sea-bird bold,
Of the stormwind resistless, free,
Thy voices are singing to me
In the music that never grows old.

’Mid the world’s din and strife
They tell of an Infinite Rest
That comes in response to the quest
Of the seekers of Truth and Life.

My soul, may it ever be thine,
To be calm in the midst of the storm,
And to know in the Awful Form
That it brings to thee—Love Divine.
