This week, we were deeply shocked and saddened to hear that local man, Mark Beese had passed away.
Mark was well known on Tiree since first coming to the island as a surfer and through the subsequent decades when he put down roots and created a thriving business. His properties neighboured Struthan Cottage just round the corner at Kilmoluaig and he had many friends.
Mark was instrumental in renovating our cottage back in the day and we came to know him rather well. A helpful, cheery man, outspoken at times (in a good way) and knowledgeable. He had many ideas which we put into place to make holidays for guests more comfortable and he rallied round quickly on several occasions when maintenance or repairs called for somebody reliable and competent! An adventurous spirit, he was off the island often too and certainly saw a LOT of the world.
This photo, though taken a few years ago, is how we’ll remember Mark. He’ll be much missed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
