Once the heartbeat of the Cornaig community, this old mill on Tiree would have echoed with the turning of its great water wheel, grinding grain for island families in times before easy supplies from the mainland.
We’ve colourised and enhanced this old image to show how it may have looked in older times.
Now, the Cornaig Mill stands quietly, weathered by Tiree’s winds, a reminder of the island’s industrious past and the generations who lived, worked, and built their lives here. Walking past today, you can still feel the stories in its stones and the gentle hush of the water that once powered it.
It is there to be photographed, but remember, it’s also private property so keep out!
