Back in March, as the first signs of spring crept in, we gave our tired garden wall a much-needed refresh with a good old-fashioned whitewash. After a long, damp winter, the wall had taken on a rather gloomy tone – not the welcoming backdrop we wanted for the garden’s seasonal comeback.
Whitewashing is simple but effective. A few coats of lime-based paint not only brightened things up, but also gave the garden a clean, classic look that reflects the light beautifully on brighter days. It’s also breathable and eco-friendly – a nod to traditional techniques that still hold up today.
There’s something satisfying about starting the season with a small, manageable project that makes a big visual impact. Now the wall’s a standout feature, not an eyesore. Sometimes, it’s the little jobs that spark the biggest transformations.
Have you tackled any early spring projects in your garden this year?
