Continuing a look at Tiree’s history. In 1936, Tiree boasted not one but TWO, brand new Women’s Rural Institute Groups. One at Scarinish and the other at Balemartine. This was a pre WW2 time when many organisations in Scotland were promoting health, wellbeing and togetherness.
Tiree’s two new groups were just a couple amongst many new women’s groups formed throughout Scotland that year.
