Of course, whilst up here on holiday, i’ve also been working for a couple of days, in and around the cottage. Any suggestions noted in our guestbook have also been noted. Here’s what has been done this visit:
Inside:
Stoves cleaned out and black polished, scart replaced on tv, seat caster fixed, front door threshold re-cemented with slight slope this time (to prevent water ingress at door), walls freshened up with white paint, light bulbs replaced, batteries replaced in controller, new kettle, new pethair hoover, new dishclothes, new pillow and mattress protectors, new tin opener, kitchen tap tightened, extra books and dvds left in cottage, washing machine automatic wash cycle fixed. Some small gaps at joists in upstairs bedroom filled in.
Outside:
Weeds and nettles removed from back of garden and at wall edge. Cobbles placed along path to create border, weedproof mat and weedkiller sprayed. Tidied up patio area. Tightened washing line, painted window cills and gate posts. Painted summer seat, chicken wire to gates, check septic tank, sollar lights fixed at back of house.
The house was in a good state of repair and with all the above done, i got back to enjoying my holiday! I’ll next be up to Tiree for some Winter maintenance either in October or November.
