Many thanks to Struthan Cottage visitor Beryl Armstrong, who took the time to review the closest beach to the cottage, at Balevulin. The review featured in the Telegraph today. Here’s what Beryl said, which i hope gives you a flavour of the peaceful, relaxing holiday you can expect. The article can be read here too
Balevullin
In my opinion the most beautiful beach in the world is at Balevullin on Tiree. It’s so natural, backed by dunes and machair, and two people on it is crowded. No litter, but white sand and the sea can be turquoise. A perfect beach for kite flying or wind surfing, watching birds or even whales or basking sharks.
One could lie on the beach and watch the clouds while listening to the sea and the corncrakes in the meadows, or picnic with children, having this piece of heaven to oneself.
