Ready for Struthan Cottage Summer

As we head rapidly into warmer months, the cottage is now fully booked out right through until November this year! That’s fantastic news for us as a business, and great for all you holidaymakers who are booking to come back again , year after year.

We’d love to hear from anybody who has been to Struthan Cottage and please take 1 minute to sign our guestbook.

To future guests, a quick reminder of some important points:

1. If you have a dog, YOU are responsible for him/her. Dog owners should take particular care to sweep up any possible dog hair from rugs before they leave and of course clear the garden of any possible dog fouling. We’ve taken the unusual step of allowing dogs to the cottage. Please ensure these guidelines are followed so dogs are welcome back in future years.

2. Do not flush nappies, sanitary products, make up remover pads or kitchen towel, down the toilet. It will block and you will be charged for it being unblocked! The waste pipes are smaller than they are normally on the mainland. Your attention to this is most appreciated.

3. Bin day is a Tuesday. It is rather complex to note when a particular bin type is to be put out. We would advise that all 3 bins are put out on a Tuesday morning and the binmen will empty the one for that day.

4. Directions and guidelines for the cottage are posted out to your home , 4 weeks prior to your holiday.

5. Note you are NOT booked, unless you have paid a deposit. If you’re reserved and haven’t paid a deposit, you run the risk of losing the spot! Deposits are strictly due 12 months prior to your holiday, the balance 4 weeks before you depart. People with reservations should take note and ensure they’ve sent in the booking form (on the booking page) along with the deposit.

6. If you’ve booked with us, make sure you book with Calmac or Flybe. Summer ferries especially can fill up fast and you don’t want to be disappointed!

7. Please do not change any of the heating settings on the main timer control panel. Use the thermostat and boost buttons only.

8. There are no ATM cashpoints on Tiree. However, you may get cash at the Bank, or via cashback at the Co-op or shops on the island. Alternatively, stop at an ATM in Oban before you board the ferry. It’s also advisable to fill up fuel in your car in Oban as it’s less expensive than the petrol on the island.

9. Don’t forget, you will need to take bedlinen and towels with you. Duvets and pillows are provided. We do not have a laundry service. For the few people who have permission to use our own spare bedding in the cottage, you will need to strip them, wash and leave on the rope outside before you leave. MUCH easier to take you own.

These simple rules will ensure both you and your families and of course future guests enjoy their holidays. Please take note! Thanks.
