Just back from a fantastic week’s relaxation and battery-recharging at Struthan Cottage. Everything you need is provided at the cottage and the underfloor heating, well-equipped kitchen, real fire and fast wi-fi are a real bonus. Note: there’s no landline phone in the cottage and mobile signal is non-existent for for Orange/T-Mobile (I’m told there’s a variable signal for 02/Vodafone) – so your only contact with the outside world (should you want any!) is via email or skype telephone. Paul the owner was extremely helpful and always easy-to-reach in the lead-up to our break. Tiree itself is a wonderful place with beaches second-to-none and a warm and friendly sense of community. A wonderful retreat from the stresses and strains of the ‘other’ world!

The winter timetable operates Sat, Sun, Tues and Thursdays. The prices are the same as summer and can be found at http://www.calmac.co.uk . Its normally about £82 to take a car return. The cottage is currently available at New Year although we have had enquiries recently. The hotel will be open as will a couple of cafes and restruants. The hall will be open for new year celebrations.

Spent a fantastic week at Struthan Cottage from 16th October 2010. The cottage was beautiful and upgraded to a very high standard with everything we needed. The kitchen was especially nice and a pleasure to work in. Paul was very good in sending out information prior to our holiday and there was an information folder in the cottage which answered any questions. The island itself was beautiful with fantastic beaches. Ideal for walkers. water sports, photographers etc. or just perfect for relaxing. We would certainly recommend it to our friends and would like to return to the island ourselves possibly in May or June with the light nights. Thank you Paul for supplying such a well equipped cosy cottage.

We spent a fabulous week at the cottage from 2nd to 9th October 2010. Cottage is absolutely lovely and everything you could wish for. Tastefully decorated and cosy and warm in the evenings. We fell in love with the island, fantastic beaches, friendly Tiree people, recommend Elephants End restaurant on Gott Bay for a superb meal. We did plenty of walking and exploring the island and were amazed at every place we visited. Perfect for walkers, water sports enthusiasts and photographers and for people wanting a relaxing get away from it all holiday. Wild diamond windsurfing is an excellent place for advise on watersports. William was very helpful and friendly. We loved everything so much we have already reserved another week next year. It was also especially nice to meet Paul the owner as he came on the ferry we went back on. Thanks Paul for making our stay simply perfect. Until next year

Spent a lovely week at Struthan Cottage from 4-11th September. Cottage is very cosy , comfortable, tastefully presented and superbly equipped to meet your every need!! You may not want to leave the cottage!! Loved Tiree to bits, glorious deserted beaches which rivalled and surpassed many seen to date on other hebridean islands. Lots of wind, some rain, but only the sunshine days spring to mind. Friendly people, laid back pace of life, perfect getaway to chill out. Check out the starriest of skies at night !! Magical!

4th September 2010 – simply stunning. Tiree needs to be seen to believed. We have explored widely all over the Hebrides and never found beaches to come close to those on Tiree. Our children & 3 dogs loved the wide expanses of beautiful sand and never have we seen so much sky! The cottage was absolutely lovely and unlike so much Hebridean accommodation we have stayed in, very contemporary with interesting architectural features and all “mod cons”. All round, especially because we were blessed with a week of glorious sunshine, we have had one of our most memorable holidays ever in over 20 years. Thank you so much.

Cottage was brilliant. We have stayed in different places over the last 6 years and this was by far the best. Very clean, cosy and well equipped . Had to turn the heating down most nights as cottage retained the heat from the sun during the day. We were blessed with a week of good weather with 3 whole days spent on Balephuil beach BBQ and all. Brilliant customer service and attention to detail and above all a very reasonable price for Tiree. Already booked for next year and beyond!!!

Just back from Tiree, where we had a fantastic week at Struthan Cottage! O – and the beaches were ok too! Weather was variable, but it didn’t really matter as the cottage was so nice, and once you’ve got your wetsuit on, you’re going to get wet anyway!
Thanks to Paul for being so helpful!

Thank you for an excellent week in Struthan Cottage (20 – 27 Feb 2010). Tiree was lovely, as usual, and our holiday was certainly enhanced by the excellent accommodation. The cottage was very well and tastefully appointed. The coal fire kept us warm, even though the outside temperature was very cold. A lovely spot, relaxing holiday and excellent cottage, many thanks.

Just returned from a great weekend at Tiree, this was our first visit and certainly wont be the last. The cottage was everything we could have wished for so cosy with the coal fire. Skelp and Jasper just loved all the beaches only problem Jasper couldn’t find a stick to play with. Certainly would recommend this cottage to all. Only complaint was it was too short would have loved to have stayed the week.

We have just returned from our family Christmas on Tiree. Struthan Cottage is superb – well equipped, cosy, warm and comfortable.
Paul’s customer service has been excellent. He kept us very well informed.
Tiree is simply wonderful. Especially the wild, untouched beaches. We will definately return.

Wonderful cottage to ‘hole up’ & relax in the winter. Cottage beautifully furnished & very well kitted out. The underfloor heating downstairs really is cosy, although surprisingly we didn’t need to put the boost on very often, the cottage just seems to retain its heat.
The weather has been seriously wet & windy this week (end of Nov) but happy just to relax in the cottage & have lots of family fun. My husband, might not quite agree, as he would have liked to windsurf more but just too windy!
Thanks to Paul (the owner) for all his help & great customer care. Much appreciated & a rarity these days.
Highly Recommended Holiday Cottage.

Had an excellent week in the cottage at start of October. Cottage is fitted to a very high standard throughout and the under floor heating a definite winner with the dog.
Tiree is a wonderful place for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Beaches are stunning and Sand Yachting definitely worth a try at only £20 for an hour at Gott Bay. Some excellent places to eat out – Elephants End and Cobbled Cow.
Will definitely be back in the future.

Great stay at Struthan in June. Paul was very helpful with booking and enquiries. Cottage very comfortable and well equiped. Would be useful to have bed linen/laundry service if coming on public transport. Recommend excellent dial-a-ride bus service (picks up from ‘main road’). Also windersurfing taster session for £20 is a bargain. Hope to return again. Thank you

WOW, what a fabulous week in the loveliest cottage on Tiree.
It has to be the best cottage on the island, I cant wait to get back to the cottage in a few weeks time. It is the perfect retreat for relaxation. I couldn’t have wished for anything more. There is only one word to describe Struan Cottage………. PERFECT.

Beautifully restored to a very high standard, thoughtful planning has resulted in a spacious and light interior. The owners have equiped the house with sky and wiif and more dvd’s that you could watch on a weeks holiday.
A lovely cottage which should be an inspiration to other Tiree black house owners.

Happy days with Sunny our English Setter, he enjoyed the lovely beaches.Thrilled to have spotted an otter late one evening at Balephuil. Watched him grooming his fur and lying on his back eating a crab. We couldn’t have wished for a nicer cottage to stay in. Your website is excellent and always interesting and since our first contact with you we have found your personal service and attention to detail 5 star! Many thanks. Carol,Malcolm & Sunny

Had a splendid week, cottage suited our needs perfectly and we walked, paddled, rock pooled and explored to our hearts content. Ate well at the Cobbled Cow, Elephant’s end and the place at Sandaig that I cannot spell! Found it hard to buy seafood on the island, tips please? Will be back.

We have had the huge pleasure of being the very first guests of Struthan Cottage. The cottage is everything you could ever want. It has been lovingly re-furbished with so much thought put into what will make it perfect for every guest, whatever the time of year. It is a haven for a family beach holiday, a windsurfer’s dream, a romantic hideaway, a bird-spotters delight – the list goes on………
We have had the most amazing week. Tiree is heavenly – with bright blue skies, white sandy beaches, aquamarine seas and distant mountains framing the horizon. From adventurous kite-surfing to home-made cakes in cosy cafes, you will not be disappointed. If you really want to stay in an amazing place then Struthan Cottage is what you are looking for.
